Katy Perry may be recently engaged to boyfriend Orlando Bloom, but could someone the likes of a “country Justin Bieber” rope in the “Firework” singer? Never say never.
On Sunday’s episode, the American Idol judge points out one young contestant’s long hair, likening it to the “Love Yourself” singer’s recent look. What do you mean? Glad you asked. (By the way, in case you’re not counting, that’s three Justin Bieber song puns. Sorry. Welp, make that four.) Check him out in the exclusive clip above, where the plaid shirt, cowboy hat-wearing singer confesses his love of fishing and hunting (that’s one way to get country star and judge Luke Bryan’s attention!).
Wanting further proof of his countryness, Perry asks the contestant if he can lasso. “I can! I’ve been workin’ on my ropin’,” he tells her, adding that he (conveniently) has his rope with him. Cut to: Luke Bryan serves as the contestant’s surrogate horse, carrying him on his shoulders, while Perry and fellow judge Lionel Richie run around the room. It only takes him one time (pun No. 5!) to rope in Perry.
