Filming of Star Wars: Episode IX has ended with galactic-level emotion.
Director J.J. Abrams announced an end to principal photography today by posting a new image of Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac embracing on a desert landscape set.
“It feels impossible, but today wrapped photography on Episode IX,” Abrams said on Twitter. “There is no adequate way to thank this truly magical crew and cast. I’m forever indebted to you all.”
The road is far from over. Now The Force Awakens filmmaker will go into post-production to deliver the end of the Skywalker saga for its Dec. 20 release.
The photo is likely to raise questions among Star Wars sleuths, eager to dissect the few images we’ve seen from the set. What is this desert world? Where does this scene take place in the story?
And will we ever see these three reunited — maybe many years from now, in another generation’s Star Wars saga?
