We all know my track record of picking Survivor winners at the start of the season is pathetic at best. After hitting on three straight pre-season picks for season 13 through 15 (Yul Known, Earl Cole, Todd Herzog), I have missed 22 straight times. (23, if my jinx holds up with this year’s selection of David Wright, outlined right here).
But misery loves company, and I have had some pretty miserable company in the form of Jeff Probst. In fact, the Hostmaster General has been even worse predicting winners than I have been, if that is possible. His Game Changers champion pick before filming began? Ciera Eastin, who was voted out first. WHOOPS!
But something truly remarkable happened when I went out on location for Survivor: Ghost Island. Probst picked Wendell Holland as his winner… and damn if the dude didn’t then go out and win the whole thing. (Way to make me look bad, Probst!) But can the host duplicate that stunning success for Survivor: Edge of Extinction (premiering Feb. 20 on CBS)? We’ve heard his assessment of the new women on the season. We’ve seen him talk about some of the new men who are big threats to win. And he’s also weighed in on the returning players. But there can only be one winner. And there can only be one winner pick.
So who received Probst’s vote on day 1 of filming?
