I’ll preface this by saying I just spent the last few weeks editing our Rom-Com issue (on stands now!), so I had books that inspired romantic comedies on the brain when compiling my Valentine’s Day picks. Consider these the literary equivalent of a chocolate-covered bon-bon: Easy to consume, addictive and ultimately, sweet.

It’s easy to forget how fresh Helen Fielding’s novel-in-diary-format was when it came out, tracking a year in the life of Bridget Jones, a thirtysomething “singleton” in London trying to find a career, romantic, and self-help enlightenment in a world littered with smug marrieds and chardonnay units.
