Captain Marvel will soon be crashing to Earth: The Brie Larson-starring superhero flick is set to hit theaters March 8, and with about a month to go, Disney has shared a new Super Bowl trailer for the film.
Larson stars as Carol Danvers, a former Air Force pilot with extraordinary powers. She’s been hanging out in outer space with the Kree, a powerful alien race, but after crash landing on Earth — and getting caught up in the interstellar war between the Kree and the Skrulls — she starts to wonder whether there’s more to her past.
Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are directing the ’90s-set Captain Marvel, with Samuel L. Jackson returning as a younger Nick Fury. The cast also includes Jude Law, Lashana Lynch, Ben Mendelsohn, Annette Bening, Gemma Chan, Djimon Hounsou, and Lee Pace.
“This is not a superhero who’s perfect or otherworldly or has some godlike connection,” Boden previously told EW. “But what makes her special is just how human she is. She’s funny, but doesn’t always tell good jokes. And she can be headstrong and reckless and doesn’t always make the perfect decisions for herself. But at her core, she has so much heart and so much humanity — and all of its messiness.”
