Christopher Nolan has a new secretive project coming next year.
Warner Bros. announced an “event film” from The Dark Knight and Interstellar director to be released on July 17, 2020.
The studio added that the film will be released in IMAX, a favorite format of Nolan, who had shot sequences in the extra-large screen format for previous films. The film is expected by Nolan’s first since the WWII drama Dunkirk, which was released on the same weekend in 2017.
The announcement comes as Nolan’s The Dark Knight was recently surpassed at the global box office by another WB title, Aquaman. The James Wan film has racked up $1.08 billion in theaters around the world and is soon expected to also surpass Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, which would make Aquaman the highest-grossing DC Comics movie.
