Gladys Knight will kick things off at Super Bowl LIII.
The NFL and CBS announced Thursday that the Motown legend will sing the national anthem before the teams take to the field for the big game on Sunday, Feb. 3, at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
“I am proud to use my voice to unite and represent our country in my hometown of Atlanta,” Knight said in a statement. “The NFL recently announced their new social justice platform Inspire Change, and I am honored to be a part of its inaugural year.”
The “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” singer, and Georgia native, has won seven Grammys over the course of her soulful career and became a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee in 1996. At the 2018 Super Bowl between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots, Pink sang the country’s anthem despite battling the flu.
Maroon 5 will take the stage for the Pepsi Super Bowl LIII Halftime Show alongside Travis Scott and Big Boi.
